Lectors

“How are men to call upon him in whom they have not believe? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard?” (Romans 10:14) The role of Lector is a vital one in the life of the Church, as it is a privilege way by which the people of God hear the Word of God. Men and women who have received the Sacrament of Confirmation are needed at Holy Mass on both weekends (4pm Vigil, 8am & 11am Sun) and daily Masses (6am Mon-Fri, 8am Sat). Many hands make light work and we are grateful to have a committed group of Lectors, but we welcome more! If you are comfortable reading in public, have a good speaking voice, and desire to proclaim God’s Word at Mass, call the parish office to leave your information and our Lector Coordinator, Mrs. Cynthia Toups, will be in touch with you shortly.

Parish Choir

“He who loves, sings.” These words attributed to an Early Church Father speak to the great gift of Sacred Music in the life of the Church. Our Parish Choir assists our congregation in loving the Lord with our voices each Sunday at our 9:15am Traditional Latin Mass and at special feasts through the year for both the Traditional Latin Mass & Novus Ordo Mass. We are always welcoming of new voices and encourage anyone interested to contact Ms. Carla Landry, our choir director, about auditioning and joining. Although “auditioning” can seem scary, know that reading music and having training are not requirements. The important piece is being willing to attend practice on Thursdays from 6-8pm and, of course, the Masses themselves. If you fit the bill and are willing to join in making a ‘joyful noise’ to the Lord, call the parish office and you will be contacted to set up a time to audition.

Altar Servers

The Holy Mass is the most important thing that happens in the world every single day. Serving Holy Mass is thus a great privilege. When a man serves at the altar, not only is he offering God right worship and honor, but he is also assisting the priest in his ministry and representing the community at the altar. Our Altar Servers - both for the Novus Ordo Mass and the Traditional Latin Mass - are a trained group of committed boys and men who rejoice in the gift of being close to the altar of God. Training for both forms of the Mass is a continuous process as one continues to grow in mastery of the particular roles of the liturgy. If you are a dedicated man who wants to share in the abundant blessings that pour forth from the altar, we’d love to have you join our ranks. Those interested in serving the Traditional Latin Mass or the Novus Ordo Mass can contact the parish office.

Ushers

Though hidden in the back of the Church throughout most of the Mass, our ushers are prominently seen taking up the offertory collection. This is, of course, a vital service to our community, but they also do much more! They assist with the flow of lines during Holy Communion, ensure handicapped persons in the pews receive Our Lord, and mind the exits of the Church. This ministry is ideal for those with already-full schedules because it has no regular meetings and all responsibilities are performed when one would already be at Mass anyway! If you are able to serve in this capacity, whether weekly or in a rotation, let us know by calling the parish office and you will be contacted with more information.
