RCIA – Rite of Christian Initiation for Adult, is the way the Roman Catholic Church brings adults into membership in the Church.

The RCIA process has several distinct stages:

  • Catechumenate: those who decide to enter the Church and are trained for a life in Christ are called catechumens, an ancient name from the early Church. In this stage, you’re developing your faith and learning the basic points about the Catholic faith and life.
  • Purification and preparation: the Church will help you focus and intensify your faith as you prepare to commit your life to Christ and be received into the Church at Easter. If you are following the RCIA process, you ‘ll go through a beautiful series of Gospel-based meditations during Lent.
  • Initiation: You are received into the Church during the Easter Vigil Mass, where you’ll receive the sacraments of initiation: baptism, confirmation and Eucharist.

Do you know anyone who wants to join the Catholic Church? Do you have any questions about the Catholic Faith or would like to know more about the Faith? Have you been away from the sacraments and want to come home?

Please join us on Sundays from 9am to 11am in the Meeting Room. We start in September and end after Pentecost in May of each year. We do not meet in the months of June, July and August.

St. Paul’s Apologetics is reading the book, Unabridged Christianity by Fr. Mario Romero. We meet on Saturdays from 11 am to 12:30 pm in the PRS building. Come and learn how to defend our faith. All, Catholic and non-Catholic, are welcome to join us.

The St. Paul’s Apologetics is a ministry whose specified goal is to teach adults and teenagers how to defend our Catholic Faith. In centering upon a defence of the faith, participants develop a better understanding of Catholicism.

This ministry’s meetings consist of weekly classes held every Saturday from 11am to 12:30pm in the Apologetics Room in the PSR Building at St. Agnes.

Everyone is welcome to attend these classes. More information can be obtained by calling Kitty Blanchard at 383-4127 Please feel free to just show up on any Saturday for that week’s class..

Books may be purchased on line from the St. Agnes Web Site,  www.stagnesbr.com . The tab for the Catholic Gift Shop is on the upper right hand corner of the Web Page, click on it then click on the ‘browse the full store’. Put the name of the book in the search box. St. Agnes receives a portion of the total amount spent. Thank you for supporting St. Agnes Parish!

Apologetics is explaining what we as Catholics believe and why we believe it.

Why do Catholics call their priests Father? Why do Catholics confess their sins to a priest? Are Catholics born again? Please join us on Saturdays for answers to these common questions and learn the truth about what we as Catholics believe.

If you have questions, the Church has the answers.

“…Always be ready to give an explanation to anyone who asks you for a reason for your hope, but do it with gentleness and reverence…”   – 1 Peter 3:15-16
