Matrimony

Couples planning a wedding should speak to the pastor six months prior to their anticipated wedding date as there is a 6-month preparation period before the celebration of the  Sacrament of Marriage. A wedding date should not be set until you speak to the pastor.

To book the church please call the parish office at 383-4127. Wedding Guidelines for St Agnes may be accessed by clicking the gold button below.

Non-parishioners need:
  1. A letter of permission from their parish granting the couple permission to get married outside their parish.
  2. A letter from the priest or deacon will do all the prenuptial preparations
  3. A letter from the priest who will perform the ceremony

The church will not be booked until these three letters are presented to the parish office.

The fee for use of the Church is $400 for registered parishioners and $650 for non-parishioners. Half of the fee must be paid at the time the church is booked and is not-refundable. The other half is due no later than one month before the date of the wedding.

(To assure booking the church on the desired date, the couple should consider calling the church a year in advance)

Music:

St. Agnes recommends the following musicians who are familiar with proper music for Catholic weddings:

Organist:

Daniel Blanchard 225-610-6824

Pianist:

Christi Atkinson 225-888-3866 or email catkin817@gmail.com

Cantor:

Nancy Hendrick 225-288-3441

Cristal Hebert 225-571-8336

Mary Rosenbloom 225-362-6456

The music is not included in the church fee. The couple will make their own arrangements with the individual musicians.

Decorations:

Should be simple. Anything you bring into the church should be removed when you leave. Please be aware that during the Easter and Christmas Seasons the church is decorated with flowers and it will not be possible to remove these flowers for your wedding.  If you wish to leave flowers in the sanctuary after your wedding Mass, please contact Ms. Elsie Cangelosi, Altar Society President 766-4643.

The church aisle is 106 feet long. The white aisle runner is not allowed. The church can seat up to 1,000 people. There are 30 pews on either side of the main aisle.

Jesus is present in the Blessed Sacrament within the tabernacle. Please be modest in dress and behavior at the rehearsal and on the wedding day.

Contact Your Priest:

If you are contemplating marriage, please contact your pastor or priest as early as possible – (at least six months of preparation for sacramental marriage are required in the Diocese of Baton Rouge).
